About Us
The Panamanian Association of Real Estate Brokers and Developers (ACOBIR) was created at the end of 1973 (see history) by its first president, businessman Jaime R. Correa. This is integrated by the oldest and prestigious companies of the country dedicated to the industry of the brokerage and promotion of real estate, which constitutes an important economic force that benefits direct and indirectly all the country.
ACOBIR belongs to important international organizations and federations, such as: National Association of Realtors (NAR) with seat in the United States, with many thousand of associates in all the United States and in the rest of world; Central America, Panama and the Caribbean Federation of Chambers and Real Estate Runners (FECEPAC-ACBR), which unionize all the Central American countries plus some of the Caribbean area; to the International Federation of Real Estate Professions (FIABCI) with seat in France, which unionize more than a thousand members, mainly of the European Continent. Also it belongs to national organizations such as the National Board of the Private Company (CONEP), the United States - Panama Business Board- (USPA), the Urban Chamber of Panama and to the Directive Council of Conciliation and Arbitration Centre of Panama, exerting the second vice-presidency; in addition it belongs to the Technical Board of Real Estate, in the Ministry of Commerce and Industries, entity created by the Decree Law nº6 of the 8 of July of 1999, by which the profession of Real Estate Agents is regulated. Also it is represented at the ARI Board of Directors.
Of a total of only 18 founder members affiliated initially, nowadays ACOBIR gather more than 100 strong companies and natural people of the Brokerage, Valuation and Real Estate Industry, plus 9 Corporative Members constituted by companies whose activity is directly related to the real estate, such as mortgage banks. Also an Honorary Member: the Interoceanic Authority Region (ARI), all which constitute an important economic force that benefits direct and indirectly the 3 million Panamanians all over the country.
